The Role: We are looking for a Planning Manager to lead, manage, drive and deliver planning support and advice for our major projects, including managing the programme of works and correlation of cost and risk. This role will have the opportunity to develop policies, standards, reporting and systems as well as utilise our own well-developed frameworks to provide first-class planning support that enables delivery of these large, complex project(s).
Managing and providing earned value management reports for both internal and client consumption, with wider reporting and client-facing dialogue / senior stakeholder reporting as merited.
Support senior colleagues (including the project controls and planning leadership when required) in leading less experienced colleagues or peers in relation to setting objectives, reviewing performance and participating in selection/promotion within our firms.
Creating, improving upon and delivering positive results from and change to the planning function, not only our own but within the teams of our clients where merited.
Drive programmes from an overall P6 perspective including internal/external reporting
Meet external/internal reporting timelines for relevant areas, particularly on projects with a complex or inter-dependent series of subsequent projects (e.g. an operational shipyard rebuild).
Work with and influence project manages to maintain schedules and plans as well as the interaction between different but co-existing areas of work, likely requiring significant influencing and objective demonstration skills (I.e. why should we consider this in terms of benefits/costs to our own work and that of others etc.)
Develop and match schedules, as well as consider cost or risk assessments to create a holistic, integrated solution that influences or drives critical path analysis to create robust decisions that benefit our work and our clients alike.
Lead in what-if scenario planning as well as monitor processes to integrate scheduling from across all projects within the area of work.
Work with our planning lead to manage the baseline and adhoc requirements.
Collaborate with project delivery teams, including specialist colleagues, partners or the client to ensure delivery.
Integrate all time, cost and quality information to support the monitoring of project progress and accurate project intelligence.
Support the development of the wider planning and project controls team and function, working with the planning lead to provide thoughts / input / perspective as required. This is a key area that we wish to grow significantly in the coming years.
Capture, implement and share best practice Project Planning policy, processes and procedures across the business to drive continuous improvement, and provide specialist advice where required. Champion this with clients and colleagues alike (where merited) to produce positive change and an appreciation for the value the planning team can bring.

Qualified project manager (or similar recognised professional qualification) with a strong track record of achievement in planning and project management within large scale infrastructure projects.
Demonstrable understanding of commercial elements within large, complex projects, and a track record of achievement in complex projects.
Demonstrable, significant track record in planning with the technical expertise and credibility to match. Familiar with current best practice and passionate about it's development / implementation while remaining practical and pragmatic.
Experience of major infrastructure projects of a complex or regulated contract type would be an advantage
