This position is responsible for supporting transportation planning and development projects in CH2Mâ??s northwest operations. The intern will work on a wide range of projects, supporting the project team in delivering high-quality plans and products. The intern completes project tasks and activities under the direction of project team members and the Manager of Talent.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
â?¢ With direction, collect data and conduct research to develop and analyze transportation and environmental data and issues
â?¢ Compile project records/maintain project files and folders
â?¢ Prepare and edit GIS maps; conduct GIS calculations to support impact analyses
â?¢ Support graphic production and document design
â?¢ Support outreach, public involvement tasks, and graphic production as needed
â?¢ Work under mid-level planners and staff in a dynamic, fast-paced office
â?¢ Work on multiple teams with limited supervision
â?¢ Participate in internal project meetings; prepare meeting minutes and help fulfill project management tasks
â?¢ Participate in office and discipline meetings and other team activities, and gain exposure to the local CH2M organization as well as the transportation planning/engineering field
â?¢ B.S. degree in technical field or liberal arts or equivalent experience; graduate students preferred but others encouraged to apply
â?¢ Knowledge of basic transportation planning concepts, including land use, economic development, community development, and environmental planning The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
â?¢ Strong writing skills
â?¢ Awareness about equity issues, environmental justice, and the public involvement process
â?¢ Awareness of NEPA and applicable state requirements (e.g., CEQA, SEPA)
â?¢ Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of mapping applications (ArcGIS, Google Earth), graphic production/design tools (Adobe Suite), and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
â?¢ 1 - 4 years of experience preferred
