- Demonstrated experience in the inspection, design and construction of conventional and mechanized tunnels in hard rock and soft ground • Superior analytical, planning, and organizational skills • Superior ability to multi-task and prioritize engineering assignments and projects • Project management experience with multi-discipline projects and ability to collaborate with state federal and local agencies, outside engineering firms and engineering groups within the railroad organization • Understanding of NEPA requirements and experience in the permitting of projects • Significant knowledge and understanding of AREMA Recommended Practice as well as other applicable industry codes and standards (AISC, ACI, PCI, IBC, ASCE, etc.) • Significant proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: • Project management experience in multi-disciplined railroad infrastructure projects and collaboration with federal, state and local agencies, outside engineering firms and other project stakeholders • Experience in preparing contract documents for underground construction contracts • Experience in various underground construction methods and techniques • Extensive knowledge and understanding of passenger rail operations and experience in the design and constructability aspects of projects in an active railroad environment • NEPA and permitting experience • Design management experience for major projects > $100 million
MINIMUM EDUCATION: • Bachelors in Civil Engineering • Professional Engineering License – in NY or NJ
PREFERRED EDUCATION: • Masters in Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical or Tunnel Engineering • Project, Program or Construction Management Certification
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
