Our Portland office is searching for a Senior Urban Transit/Complete Street Design Lead that will wear many hatsâ?¦Deputy Project Manager, Design Manager and Lead Technical Urban Designerâ?¦for the complete street and surface transit design practice. This candidate will have a key role in growing and leading our Portland practice, winning and delivering the most interesting projects in the Northwest region with opportunities to serve clients across the American Westâ?¦ultimately, we would like someone that will complement a diverse team of engineering, planning and design professionals.
Ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the conceptual, preliminary, final design/documentation and construction supervision of central city public realm and multimodal/transit street environments with specific focus on BRT and LRT design. Additionally they will have broad experience in the process and production of station area plans/TOD, urban district master planning, and urban design guidelines.
Candidates shall possess the ability to:
Develop scope, schedule, budgets, teaming and on-going project management and financial management of task orders and medium-sized projects
Serve as the design manager on complex urban transportation infrastructure projects leading large technical teams of CH2M and sub-consultant staff
Work with multiple design disciplines in collaborative fast paced environment with sometimes uncertain purpose and lack of precise direction
Produce preliminary and final construction documents (plans and specifications) for urban design, open-space or transportation projects
Work independently at times and with minimum supervision to advance and clarify design work and find project solutions within stated budget constraints
Generate, produce and refine urban design diagrams, conceptual design graphics, sketches and accompanying narratives and/or technical analysis
Hand draw in public meetings, collaborative interdisciplinary work sessions, and with small teams or individually
Develop, across multiple software platforms, presentation graphics, storyboards and other materials for use in public, agency, client and interdisciplinary settings
Participate in the strategy, positioning, technical differentiation and other activities associated with business development, including proposals and interviews

Bachelorâ??s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related
10 years diverse urban design, architecture or landscape architecture experience
Excellent written, verbal, graphical communication skills
Superlative computer software capabilities including but not limited to:
CAD: Microstation, Autocad Civil, Revit
3D Modelling: sketchup, 3D Studio MAX, rhino or other
2D Rendering: MCOLOR, Illustrator, Photoshop
Presentation: InDesign, Powerpoint, Prezi
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Masterâ??s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related
Licensed Architect and/or Landscape Architect
Portfolio of comparable built transit projects and robust regional client network
