The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Our Birmingham team have exciting opportunities across our portfolio including; Programme Delivery Partner for Highways England, SMART/Major Motorways, Network Rail, Local Authority frameworks, Flood/Environmental frameworks & Major Ground Investigations.
The Role: We require a Senior Railway Systems Engineer to lead the development of all aspects of the railway system on this major programme. This requires coordination throughout the organisation, facilitating the assurance of technical submissions from contractors to determine compliance with programme requirements and standards.
â?¢ Act as the interface between the Central team and the Railway Systems team
â?¢ Ensure the programme designs meet the requirements of the â??end stateâ?? railway in terms of operability and reliability
â?¢ Lead the provision of expert technical and engineering input from a railway systems perspective to support programme design
â?¢ Manage and guide area teams, drawing on expertise from within the programme to support delivery
â?¢ Act as the interface for governance and compliance, ensuring design development issues are consistently addressed.
â?¢ Identify, assess and manage project wide design risks
â?¢ Extensive knowledge of railway operations / engineering design principles
â?¢ Ability to carry out robust independent checks on a wide variety of designs and produce, interpret and assess specifications, standards and technical reports
â?¢ Ability to resolve complex rail system design problems
â?¢ Ability to communicate, engage and influence a variety of stakeholders
â?¢ Strong written and spoken communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills
â?¢ Strong team management, planning and organisational skills, and the ability to deliver under pressure to meet tight deadlines whilst gathering input from other functions
