The Mount Prospect Public Works department is seeking a dependable candidate for the position of Engineering Inspector in the Engineering Division. The Engineering Inspector ensures that all public and private improvements installed in residential, commercial and industrial development conform to plans approved by the Village.
Essential Functions:
This position performs field inspections on site improvements including roadways, curbs and sidewalks, sanitary sewer, storm sewers, water mains, private site improvements. In addition performs field surveys, public improvement design, drafting, specification preparation, construction layout, inspection, documentation, permit reviews, and responding to informational requests from the staff, residents, engineers, surveyors and developers Assist in the planning and implementation of tasks necessary to achieve the goals of the Public Works Department as defined by the Director of Public Works.
Educational Requirements:
Associate’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, or related field required.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of two years engineering experience in municipal engineering, including construction inspection experience required.
Valid Class B driver’s license (CDL) from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Starting Rate: $62,500 - $87,500 annually depending on qualifications. Minimum 40 hours per week.
Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, which includes a drug and alcohol screen. Mandatory residency requirement within one year of employment (Randall Road on the west, Route 176 on the north, Lake Michigan on the east, Route 64 to the south).
