General Accountability Developing and implementing fleet management best practices for the TTC’s integrated transit vehicle fleet (bus, streetcar, subway, wheel-trans, and non-revenue) and infrastructure programs (facilities for storage and maintenance). This includes managing the coordination of the fleet involved in procurement plans for fleet replacement and expansion, project plans and project management activities for major rebuild, overhaul and retrofit programs. Key Job Functions - Preparing, maintaining and coordinating the implementation of effective fleet plans designed to improve efficiency and productivity and to reduce overall transportation and staff costs
- Coordinating and working with other departments (and be available on site as necessary) carhouses, barns, yards and shops to determine expectations and priorities on fleet availability status, condition, major build requirements and fleet acquisition requirements
- Assisting with departmental and corporate budget preparation efforts
- Identifying, forecasting and evaluating trends in fleet management coordination through the maintenance and analysis of key performance metrics
- Developing spreadsheet reports to track, monitor and evaluated key performance metrics, creating action plans to address gaps in performance and providing management with updates
- Maintaining open communications regarding fleet plans as they relate to department needs and expectations
- Collaborating and coordinating with inter-departmental (i.e., Vehicles Group teams to ensure efficient execution of the fleet plans and infrastructure programs)
- Participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program

Education and Experience Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline, combined with several years of fleet management experience, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent. Additional Requirements - Knowledge in fleet management theory and practices, including administration and procurement experience
- Knowledge of project management concepts and practices related to major rebuild programs
- Ability to coordinate and carry-out complex projects
- Sound judgement supported by excellent critical-thinking, analytical and problem solving skills relevant to coordinating large fleets and related matters in a maintenance or industrial environment
- Comprehensive understanding of carhouse and shop operations
- Well-developed leadership, networking and relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to liaise and influence all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation skills
- Strong program development and organizational skills
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including those impacting labour, safety and environmental issues
- An understanding of process engineering
- Familiarity with basic budgetary principles
- Proficient in the use of computers and relevant systems and applications with the ability to prepare various reports and analyses
- Adaptable to changing conditions
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and efficiently and work well under pressure
