AISC certified structural steel fabricator is seeking an experienced plant manager. The right candidate is motivated and will possess excellent communication and managerial skills, as well as promote shop morale. Candidate must have experience running a structural steel fabrication shop. Experience with Tekla software is a plus. This position is a salaried position and pay range listed could be exceeded if candidate has successful experience with all responsibilities listed below. Normal Hours: M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 - This range could be exceeded if candidate has successful experience with all responsibilities of this position.
Quarterly Bonus based on company profit.
Manage/Oversee Shop Employees - Oversee all aspects of shop production once material arrives until it is shipped to the jobsite. These responsibilities include, but are not strictly limited to:
o Ensuring tracking accuracy with employees clocking in on the correct jobs. Provide information to estimating for shop hours on bidding jobs, then trying to ensure shop hits those hours if jobs are awarded.
o Ensure employees are working safely and efficiently, in accordance with OSHA standards and the company safety policy.
o Approve employees time off requests, to ensure adequate staffing, and approve employee timecards weekly.
o Conduct monthly safety meetings.
o Oversee maintenance supervisor to ensure equipment is being maintained and down-time is minimized. That all equipment inspections/calibrations are kept current.
o Ensure shop QC procedures as well as machine/equipment calibration is being kept up with in compliance with AISC requirements.
o Ensure shop is working within AISC shop requirements.
o In conjunction with HR determine staffing needs, write-up, hire and fire as needed.
o Ensure new employees are trained on safety, as well as equipment they will use based on their position.
o Know at all times what jobs shop is working on, what is coming in and what is going out.
o Take direction from management as to which jobs need to be fabricated and shipped next. Increase pace of shop and implement overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
o Keep communication with purchasing to ensure material will arrive on-time, as well as shop is kept stocked with shop supplies needed for fabrication and safety.
o Seeking to always improve shop efficiency and keep costs minimized.
o Communicate with office to meet deadlines and be flexible to make changes as needed.
o Ensure Tekla, our production software, is being used correctly by shop employees and is kept up to date.
o Ensure all welders certifications are kept current and that all new welders hired are certified.
o Be the liaison between the shop and the office, which will include, but not limited to:
- Ensuring cut lists are done and sent to shop.
- Ensuring that any program files are done and sent to shop.
o Ensure correct jobs are being loaded for shipment in the correct manner and order to meet shipping deadlines.
o Ensure proper shipping information is on all shipping tickets before shipment.
o Coordinate overtime with shop employees as needed based on workflow.
Must have experience managing a structural steel fabrication shop.
Having AISC and Tekla experience is a plus.
Must have great communication, organization and managerial skills. Must be able to build team morale.
