Description: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Utility Operations or designee, oversees, reviews and performs work activities and duties assigned to the Electric Engineering unit; assumes responsibility for the more difficult and complex tasks of office and field engineering work related to the planning, design and construction of electrical distribution systems.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The Electrical Utility System Designer is the supervisory class responsible for preparation and coordination of electric utility engineering projects.
Supervision exercised: Exercises functional supervision over assigned lower level staff.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college of university with major course work in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
Experience: Four (4) years of directly related experience in the planning, design, installation and inspection of electric utility distribution systems.
Special Requirements: A valid California Class "C" driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.
A Professional Engineer license in a related field is highly desirable.
