Description
Basic Function
Under moderate supervision, performs all types of body and paint repairs on light rail vehicles.
Examples of Duties
Repairs body and paint damage to the interior and exterior of the light rail vehicles
Removes vehicle parts such as headlights to perform repairs on the damaged areas
Uses Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment to repair damage
Mixes paints, matches colors, and paints vehicle surfaces with high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns
Responds to emergency body repair and maintenance requirements of rail vehicles
Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Employer Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CA)
2 year's experience in paint and body repair of cars, trucks, or rail vehicles and six months' welding experience
Successful completion of a full time training program from an accredited school in paint and body repair may be substituted for an equivalent amount of actual work experience
Valid California Class C driver's license

Special Conditions
Must comply with all California Occupational Safety & Health Act (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear "including but not limited" to respirators and/or hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
Must be able to work on any one of three shifts and weekends
May be exposed to weather, chemical, electrical, and physical hazards when performing duties
Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
