The City of Pasadena is about ten miles northeast of downtown L.A. at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, with a residential population of 144,000 and a daytime population of 250,000. Pasadena Water & Power Department (PWP) is a community-owned utility supplying water and electricity to Pasadena and nearby areas. The General Manager (GM) reports to the City Manager and is supported by 419 employees and a $292.9 million FY2023 budget.  The GM will be a public executive with demonstrated leadership and well-versed in all aspects of running an efficient and high performing department. Experience in both utilities is not required, however, the size and importance of the department in Pasadena warrants exceptional leadership and people management skills.
