Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking Clinical Geneticist applicants at the Assistant or Associate Member level.
This position offers the opportunity to help us grow and further develop our Genetics Service. Successful individuals must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree. Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Genetics is preferred. The candidate will provide outpatient management of clinical genetics and cancer genetics patients and work with our established team of genetic counselors and our nurse practitioner. Patients will be seen at Moffitt’s McKinley Medical Building. The appropriate individual will also be expected to participate in multidisciplinary collaborative research across multiple clinical programs, with opportunities to secure extramural funding in any of the following areas: inherited genetic alterations which predispose to cancer genetic conditions; molecular mechanisms of inherited cancers and other genetic disease; early detection and treatment of genetic disease, including cancer susceptibility; use of molecular markers of disease and treatment in patient management.
The Assistant Member may be hired upon completion of an approved Fellowship, or Instructorship. Associate Member will have completed required fellowship & minimum five years as Physician in Academic Clinical Practice, or sufficient experience in a non-Academic clinical practice to be considered "very experienced". Private practice experience is considered on a fractional basis.
The Medical Geneticist will provide evaluations of hereditary cancer, interpretation of genetic test results, cancer screening for individuals with hereditary risk, and comprehensive care for individuals with complex hereditary tumor syndromes, such as neurofibromatosis, tuberose sclerosis, Cowden syndrome, Li-Fraumeni syndrome and von Hippel-Lindau disease. The Medical Geneticist will design cancer screening strategies based on national practice guidelines and tailored to the patient’s particular situation.
Experience in Multidisciplinary Academic Clinical Practice as well as experience conducting or participating with clinical trials is preferred.
Eligible candidates must hold an MD or MD/PhD degree and be qualified for licensure in Florida. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Clinical Genetics, and/or Medical Biochemical or Clinical Biochemical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
